Decluttering your Pantry

Updated: Mar 9, 2023

Decluttering is a great way to get rid of things that are outdated, expired and stuff that you are no longer using. A clutter-free pantry lets you find stuff easily when you need it and keeps the space in order.

1. REMOVE all the items from the pantry. Discard the items that has expired or spoilt. For items that has not expired and usable but you might not be using anymore, you may consider to give it away or donate.

2. CLEAN and disinfect the pantry. Place a new shelf liner to give it a fresh look. Now that the pantry is nicely cleaned up, the next step is to place the items back in.

3. GROUP the items by it's category eg. spices, canned food, seasonings, kitchenware, dinnerware, etc. and find a home for them.

4. ORGANISE your pantry with storage containers and labels. Items that you would use more frequently should be placed at easy to reach places. Less used items should be placed on a higher or deeper places, that is, if your pantry has great depth. Do remember these can be done at minimum costs. Leave some space for new items.

5. REPLENISH your pantry with items that you know you would use often.

6. CREATE storage space in your pantry with innovation and creativity. There is more potential than you think there is.
